Taiwan's First Web3×AI Financial Innovation Competition Debuts! Student Team Uses Blockchain to Solve Couples' Financial Disputes

·

As digital assets and generative AI technologies rapidly evolve, financial technology (FinTech) is entering a transformative phase. Recognizing this trend, Taiwan's inaugural "Digital Finance Blueprint: Web3 & Generative AI Innovation Competition" was held on June 24 at AWS Taiwan. Co-hosted by the Taiwan Blockchain University Alliance and HOYA BIT exchange, this student-focused competition spotlighted Web3 and AI financial applications, attracting over 100 participants from academia and industry, and showcasing groundbreaking collaborations between startups and institutions.

50+ Teams Compete with Diverse Innovations

The competition drew more than 50 student teams across Taiwan, presenting a kaleidoscope of creative solutions—from AI financial advisors and blockchain credit systems to tokenized blood donation rewards, food redistribution platforms, DAO governance models, and sustainable carbon credit mechanisms. Each proposal blended technological innovation with social impact, reflecting students' vision for the future of finance.

"Chain Love Assurance" Safeguards Couples' Finances via Blockchain

The winning team, "Chain Love Assurance" (comprising students from NTUST and NTUB), addressed the pain point of financial disputes between couples. Their solution replaces paper contracts with blockchain-powered smart contracts, integrating deposit mechanisms, on-chain arbitration, and automated enforcement to digitize and secure romantic partnerships. Judges praised the project for demonstrating Web3’s potential to reinvent social systems.

Industry-Leading Mentorship Fuels Startup Potential

The competition featured a star-studded panel of mentors and judges, including professors from National Chengchi University, founders of HOYA BIT, representatives from AWS, Cathay Financial Holdings, and other industry leaders. Eight corporate mentors provided real-world feedback to help teams refine technical ideas into viable business models.

Dr. Peng Shao-Fu, Chairman of the Taiwan Blockchain University Alliance, noted: "Students showcased not only technical skills but also a deep concern for technology’s societal impact. This competition highlights how the next generation is bridging Web3 and AI to solve real-life financial needs."

Ms. Peng Yun-Hsien, Founder of HOYA BIT, added: "Generative AI is revolutionizing finance, while Web3’s decentralization enhances security and flexibility. This contest merges two pivotal technologies, empowering students to innovate on a global stage."

The organizers emphasized that the event was more than a pitch competition—it was a launchpad for entrepreneurial experiments and industry-academia synergy. Future initiatives will further integrate Web3 and AI into financial scenarios, leveraging educational and corporate resources to turn student ideas into Taiwan’s FinTech momentum.
